Groningen, 20 May 2020
Yesterday, 19 May 2020, the Dutch government announced that the present system of half classes in primary schools will be extended until June 8th. For this reason, the present table of attendance will continue to be used until then. Please note the slight change below on June 3rd, which ensures that all children will have been to school for the same number of days.
It was announced in yesterday’s press conference that schools will open fully, no longer with half classes, from June 8th. Next week, a protocol with guidelines will be produced, including additional safety measures and information about bringing and collecting children, whether additional adults are allowed in school and so on. The protocol will be published on May 27th, after which we’ll write to you again to inform you of the consequences for our school.
The emergency childcare which we are organising at present will also continue until June 8th. Please ensure that you have contacted us by phone or email if you work in a crucial profession and need to make use of this facility for your child(ren).
In our previous newsletter we had informed you that the free days for younger classes and the staff study day have been cancelled and replaced with normal school days (22 May and 2 June).
At the end of next week we will inform you about other activities which were planned to take place at the end of this school year. Depending on the new safety measures, we’ll decide whether or not, or in what form, these can go ahead.
We hope that you will enjoy the short break over the next two days, Thursday and Friday 21 and 22 May, and we hope that we can welcome as many children as possible on Monday.
If you have any questions at all about how we’re organising either the safety and hygiene in school or the learning activities at home, please don’t hesitate to contact you child’s class teacher, the team leader or contact us via 050-5270818 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
